Lawrence Chen

Lawrence is a first-year MBA student at the Ross School of Business. He is passionate about developing products and services that meet the needs of people in underserved communities. Prior to Ross, Lawrence worked in corporate strategy at Arabella Advisors, a philanthropy consulting firm, and FINCA Impact Finance, a multinational microfinance institution. He is also a former social entrepreneur. As co-founder and CEO of Sooma, Lawrence worked to bring healthy, affordable meals to food deserts in Washington D.C. Most recently, Lawrence led a strategy refresh project for Mango Tree School, an education NGO in the Democratic Republic of Congo, helping them move toward financial self-sustainability. Lawrence holds a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Communication Studies from Westmont College.
