Steven K. Hamp

Steven is currently engaged in a variety of projects and institutions in southeast Michigan that focus on education, economic development, the arts and civic engagement. He is Chair and President of the Michigan Educational Excellence Foundation; Chair of the Governing Council for The New Economy Initiative; founding Chair and board member of The Cultural Alliance for Southeast Michigan; Co-director of More Good Schools and founding Chair and board member for Henry Ford Learning Institute; a board member of the Kresge Foundation; and a Principal at Hamp Advisors. He also serves on the boards of the National Portrait Gallery, The Henry Ford, Michigan Future, The Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan, McKinley Corporation, The Nature Conservancy (Michigan Chapter), The Ark, and Sustainable Water Works.

Prior to his current work, Mr. Hamp enjoyed a 27-year career at the historical institution, The Henry Ford. Mr. Hamp left The Henry Ford to serve as Vice President and Chief of Staff for Ford Motor Company. Mr. Hamp holds a BA degree in American History from Butler University, an MA degree in Folklore and Folklife from Indiana University and an MMP (Master of museum Practice) degree from the University of Michigan. He joined the SvF Board in June 2012.
